Blue Refuge is a lovely cottage located on the way to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia's main entrance. This well-maintained, post Victorian cottage (with Mansard roof) was built in 1909, before Acadia National Park was even established! The accommodations are very pleasant, with lovely outdoor space for throwing a frisbee or playing croquet! The patio and overhead pergola offer a relaxing afternoon retreat after a robust hike in the Park. It's located very near the Northeast Creek (where many kayak and enjoy the spectacular sunsets), the Hadley Point Beach and Stone Barn Farm—2 mile network of trails for walking (https://www.mcht.org/preserve/stone-barn-farm/)! Just 10 minutes to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia's main entrance.
The cottage features 4 bedrooms, all located on the 2nd floor: 1 king bedroom, 2 queen bedrooms and a bedroom with two twins! There are two bathrooms on the 2nd floor as well: 1 full (with tub) and 1 with a shower only. (Please note that stairs to the 2nd floor are a bit steep, as is typical with some older houses.)
The main floor features a lovely kitchen, a living room with TV, a formal dining room and a den. There is also a half bathroom on the main floor.
Amenities include cable TV ( living room), WIFI, A/C (heat pumps in all bedrooms and living room) washer/dryer, dishwasher, gas BBQ, linens, parking for 2 cars, microwave, coffeemaker, and outdoor patio furnishings. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park offer visitors a variety of activities, including hiking, biking, boating, lake swimming, carriage road walks, horse back riding, deep sea fishing! Visit the Abbe Museum, enjoy a whale watch boat ride, take a Jackson Lab visitors tour, enjoy tea and popovers at the Jordan Pond House, golf at a PGA top-rated course, play tennis. Kids activities include water park, miniature golf, beaches, and lots of ice cream shops!
