COVID Information for 2021 Maine Visitors

As we enter into 2021, and plans are being made for vacations to the Bar Harbor/Acadia area, there are many questions.

For us, our policy will be as follows: unless the Governor of Maine bans lodging during the time period a guest has booked, rentals will go forward. In 2020, there were restrictions for vistors to Maine: quarantine while here or get a Covid test the week prior to coming. We think the worst case scenario for 2021 would be these same restrictions. However, testing is now much more accessible. Even our Walgreens in Ellsworth is offering same-day drive-up testing, with no doctor referral. And hopefully, many people will be vaccinated by the summer (proof of vaccination will allow any person to come)r.

It is the responsibility of renters to decide how to proceed. You may want to wait a while before booking. Or you may want to book now and purchase trip insurance (many companies offer a "cancel for any reason", should a member of your party contract COVID during your rental period).

None of us has a crystal ball, but we are all optimisitic that things will improve by spring. Everyone is anxious to have a vacation to look forward to, and we want to assist you with your plans. Mount Desert Island/Acadia National Park will be, like last year, a safe place to enjoy the outdoors.

All cottage owners will continue adhering to Maine CDC guidelines for the weekly changeovers.

And it may be still a requirement to bring your masks and practice social distancing when you come (the Governor may still mandates it).

We are booking cottages! Things are moving forward—those who want to come can come!

Travel Insurance
The rental agreements for these cottages do not provide for cancellation, unless the cottage can be re-booked for your time period (the season here is very short and owners have a narrow window to secure rentals). It is highly recommended that you consider purchasing trip/travel insurance should a personal emergency prevent you from taking your vacation. Here are a few companies that offer this type of low-cost insurance: (a local company here, has a "cancel for any reason" policy)
