Rocky Cove

Only 5 minutes from the main entrance to Acadia National Park and 8 minutes from the bustle of downtown Bar Harbor—but a quiet world away—Rocky Cove is truly a hidden gem. On a quiet street just off the main road to Acadia and Bar Harbor, Rocky Cove sits on a dramatic, private oceanfront lot of nearly an acre.

“Gut rehabbed” in 2014, the cottage features all-new fixtures and finishes, but retains it’s quirky cottage charm. Decorated with local antiques and folk art pieces, it has an “LL Bean meets the ocean” vibe. Efficient floor plan provides plenty of living and private space in a compact footprint. Upstairs there is a large master bedroom with an ocean-view king bed, and a two-twin trundle bedroom (walk through) that doubles as a game room on rainy days. There is also a bathroom with a walk-in shower shared by both rooms. Downstairs there is a queen bedroom and full bathroom with bath/shower combination. The comfortable living room has ocean views from the large sectional couch and oversized rocking chair. There is a dining room table with seating for six. Cute kitchen has an oven/range, microwave, and dishwasher. Fabulous ocean view screened porch off the living room has an oversized porch swing, a wicker chat set, and two Adirondack rockers.

Electronic amenities include a 42″ flat screen with blu-ray DVD player, smaller flat screen with blu-ray player in the twin trundle bedroom for movies and gaming, and high-speed wi-fi throughout the house. There is a landline phone, and cellular phone service is good.

Outside, there is an large deck with an amazing elevated ocean view—perfect for outdoor lounging, grilling on the gas grill, and dining at the family-sized table. The yard is nicely landscaped with a large grassy area for kids and dogs to play. Magical ocean-view fire pit to savor on chilly evenings. There is even a second small oceanfront deck with stairs down to a private rocky beach – with the famous “Ovens” nearby. Sunbathe, kayak, swim, picnic and search for sea glass on your own stretch of shore!

Your view of Frenchman Bay will be a non-stop wildlife and lobstering show. Seals, dolphins, and loons frequent the area—even bald eagles on occasion. Watch lobstermen checking their traps—all from the living room couch!

Rocky Cove is a truly magical place—just what you imagined a Maine oceanfront cottage to be.
